Dow heating up.....
Just in the wrong way...

Heard at work among my computing peers:...

"Bail out bill fails early last week, stocks rise, bail out bill passes,
stocks fall....hmmm"

Me thinks this isn't working the way Congress thinks it does....

It's a great time to buy, though...

I would say that I am surprised...except that I am not.

I don't think the full ramifications of this are even close to becoming apparent.

The only hope at this point is for Congress to disallow any further funding, keeping it at the initial level for disbursement of funds.

Sigh...

Unfortunately, I am almost certain that you are right...

Congress always has the same mantra: If it ain't working, throw more money at it! Doesn't matter if that is an effective approach, it is the easiest approach.

I just hope a lot of our Congressional 'representatives' have large boot-shaped bruises on there asses after being sent packing by the electorate. I am not holding my breath, though.

Or regulate it more and created a department of oversight to oversee the overseeers.

Apparently a LOT of those representatives who voted FOR the bill aren't up for re-election. Those that voted no, are largely up for re-election.

I think we need two new State Senators. Question is, do we have some Senators that are moderate to conservative with enough sand to do a good and proper job?

That is a tough one. Of course, we cannot trust any career politician of any background. Their self-interests always come first, in my opinion.

Having said that, I believe we need to have a mechanism for recalling our elected officials at both a State and Federal level. That might be sufficient to have them pay heed to the will of their constituencies.

I am firmly against the notion that our representatives in Congress are somehow above our opinions. They are not sent there to replace their judgment for that of their electorates, and they are certainly not there to abjectly and unapologetically oppose our desires. I believe anyone that is willing to concede such power to their representatives is a fool.

Thank goodness for the second amendment... A particularly famous Jefferson quote is springing to mind, you know, the one about proper care of your favorite vegetation...

We have one, it's just not used very often. And the Democrats seem to be slipping out of their larger level of responsibility for this mess. Why the Fannie Mae CEO's aren't up on charges yet is beyond me. They cooked the books for Bigger bonuses and they're NOWHERE near any sort of indictment.

I think we need better lame duck laws for Congress, as well as a better checks and balances system for their pay. I find it hard to believe that there isn't any sort of corruption when one is in the position to decide one's own salary (even if it doesn't take effect until next election).
